James Clifton Bozeman, resident of the Somerville Community, U.S. Veteran and husband of Marjorie Lee Bozeman, departed this life Tuesday evening, May 27, 2014 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville. He was 78 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Bozeman were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, May 30th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Billy Adair, pastor of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Bozeman was born January 6, 1936 in Hamburg, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Bernard Bozeman and Sallie Marie Morrow Bozeman. He received his education in the Arkansas Public School System and was the husband of Marjorie Lee Moore, who survives. Mr. Bozeman served his country in the United States Army as a young person and was employed as a systems operator for the Memphis Light, Gas & Water Department for over 28 years before his retirement in 1994.
Mr. Bozeman was of the Baptist faith and had been a resident of the Somerville Community for the past 17 years. He will be remembered as a person who enjoyed caring for his yard and outdoor activities that included coon hunting, fishing and gardening. Special times with his grandchildren was an important part of his life.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bozeman is survived by two daughters, Debra Joyner of Somerville, Donna Flanagan of Orange Park, FL; his stepson, Jimmy Fox of Memphis; three grandchildren, LeAnn Gillespie, Richard Flanagan, Cheyenne Joyner; and his great grandson, Riley James Marshall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Ann Byard, Brenda Owens; and two brothers, Aubrey Bozeman and Thomas Bozeman.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Mike Kee, Bubba Jones, Brian Hughes, Terry Hughes, Richard Kee and June Bug Cannon.
