James Noona Bryant

January 25, 1946 — June 20, 2016

James Noona Bryant, age 70, resident of Stanton and husband of Shirley Jones Bryant, departed this life Monday morning, June 20, 2016 at the Crestview Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Brownsville.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Bryant were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Howard Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Bryant was born January 25, 1946 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis Bryant and Inez Flake Bryant. He received his education in the Tishomingo County, Mississippi Public School System and was married March 11, 1971 to the former Shirley Jones. Mr. Bryant was self-employed as a sheet metal worker for many years before his retirement. He was a former resident of Fayette County and a longtime resident of Memphis before moving to the Stanton Community. He was a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on lawnmowers and tractors. Mr. Bryant will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Bryant is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shirley Jones Bryant of Stanton; three daughters, Cathy Foust and her husband, Larry, of Memphis, Peggy Sheppard and her husband, Dan, of Goodlettsville, TN, Rhonda Parks and her husband, Herman, of Memphis; two sons, Timothy Murley of Stanton, Johnny Murley of Memphis; his sister, Margaret Gaines and her husband, Larry, of Boonesville, MS; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Chris Rose, Nick Rose, Michael Sircy and Dewayne Jones. Honorary pallbearers included Red Carwell.
