JAMES WALTER "JIM" FREANO, JR., a resident of the Warren Community in Fayette County and former Buckeye Corporation employee, died June 17, 2008 at the Methodist Hospital of Fayette in Somerville where he was taken after becoming suddenly ill at his home. He was 57 years of age and died unexpectedly.
Funeral services for Mr. Freano were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, June 20th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with the Rev. Eddie Little, Pastor of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Freano was born February 7, 1951, in Memphis, TN, the son of James Walter Freano, Sr. and the late Dorothy Weigandt Freano. He was educated in the Memphis Public School system and was a graduate of the Kingsbury High School in Memphis. He was married February 11, 1978 to the former Betty L. Ayres of Trenton, New Jersey, who survives.
Mr. Freano had been a resident of Fayette County for the past 27 years and was of the Presbyterian Faith. He was employed as a forklift operator for the Buckeye Corporation in Memphis for a number of years before his illness.
His interests included Genealogy, C.B. Radios and the collecting and selling of antiques.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Freano is survived by his son James Walter Freano, III of Somerville; two step-daughters, Tina Goldschmidt of Barre, MA and Nici Flewelling of Covington; his step-son, Joseph D. Rosenbaum of Cayce, MS; his father, James Walter Freano, Sr. of Dickson, TN; two sisters, Sandra Freano Summerall of Covington, TN and Wenita Grey of Searcy, AR; two brothers, Randy Bennett of Memphis and Terry Bennett of Cairo, IL and eleven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Timmy Freano and a brother, John Freano.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Bill Harvin, Jim Bennett, William Vance, Lynn Irwin, Bruce Goldschmidt and Jessie Cutberth.
