JAMES EDWARD GAMMEL, a resident of Branson, Missouri, native of Somerville, formerly of Fayette and Hardeman County and retired musician died Monday afternoon, April 5, 2010 at his residence. He was 62 years of age and died unexpectedly following a sudden illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Gammel were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, April 13th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. John Ed Watkins, Pastor of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery of the Warren Community near Somerville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Gammel was born in Somerville on March 11, 1948 the son of Robert (Bob) Thomas Gammel and Ethel Christine Davidson Gammel.
He attended both Fayette and Hardeman County Public Schools and graduated from the Bolivar High School.
A musician, Mr. Gammel was a self-employed drummer and his career spanned over thirty years before his retirement five years ago.
A Christian, he was an outgoing person whose interests included auto mechanics and computers.
Survivors of Mr. Gammel include two sons, Bradley Gammel of Gainesville, FL and Jason Gammel of Savannah, TN and his sister, Lorene Trotter of Memphis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Gammel and Hulon Gammel.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were family members and friends.
