James Edward German, age 84, resident of Somerville and lifelong resident of Fayette County, departed this life Monday afternoon, February 19, 2018 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. German were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. The officiating ministers were Bro. Billy Adair and Bro. Jack Moore. Personal remarks were given by Lillie Fletcher. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. German was born May 9, 1933 in Fayette County, Tennessee. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was employed as a surveyor for the State of Tennessee for much of his life. He was an active member of Antioch United Methodist Church and will be remembered for his love for The Lord. Mr. German enjoyed music and gardening his tomatoes. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.
Mr. German is survived by three sons, Tony German (Elaine) of Williston, TN, Kevin German (Melinda) of Williston, TN, Damon German (Janie) of Somerville, TN; his brother, Arthur Lee “Doonie” German, Jr. of Somerville, TN; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee German, Sr. and Allie Mae Sorrell German; three sisters, Charlene Ivy, Allie Bea Springer, Vivian Stafford; and five brothers, Thomas German, Kenny German, Sr., William “Buddy” German, Willie German, Sr. and Howard German.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Dylan German, Damon German, Jr., Jeremy German, Bob Holden, Joshua Watts and Brandon Watts.
The family requests that memorials be directed to The West Cancer Center, 7945 Wolf River Boulevard, Germantown, TN 38138 or Antioch United Methodist Church in Somerville, Tennessee.
