James Edward Hughey, age 75, resident of Piperton, departed this life Friday afternoon, February 12, 2016 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Hughey were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Remarks were given by Rhonda Hughey. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Hughey was born April 17, 1940 in Olive Branch, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Whitehaven High School and a lifelong resident of the North Mississippi and West Tennessee areas. Mr. Hughey was employed as a yard master for the railroad before his retirement and enjoyed golfing and collecting antiques.
Mr. Hughey is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hughey Layne of Memphis; two sons, Mark Hughey (Mary Anne) of Conway, AR, Christopher Hughey (Kate) of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Pat Depriest (Bob) of Hernando, MS, Shirley Lavigne of Marble Falls, TX, Sandra Houston of Germantown; two brothers, Tony Hughey (Frankie) of Greer, SC, Archie Hughey of Kansas City, MO; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Lee Hughey and Polly Inez Stevens Hughey and two brothers, Ronnie Hughey and Lynn Hughey.
