James Franklin Hurst

James Franklin Hurst, age 74, resident of Memphis, Tennessee, departed this life Friday morning, March 16, 2018 at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Hurst will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment will be private. A visitation for Mr. Hurst will be from 2 to 3 P.M. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Hurst was born August 17, 1943 in Hornsby, Tennessee, the son of the late Virginia Ruth Hurst Lester. He was a graduate of the Messick High School in Memphis. He was of the Baptist faith and was the owner of the custom cabinet shop for many years before his retirement. Mr. Hurst enjoyed watching westerns, playing on the computer, going to the movies and eating German chocolate. He will be remembered for being a comedian and conversationalist who was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Mr. Hurst leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Christin Hurst (Charles Theriault) of Springdale, AR; his son, Teddy Kirksey of Memphis, TN; three sisters, Durenda Pratt (Richard) of Oakland, TN, Debbie Wright (Gary) of Memphis, TN, Brenda Smith (Clyde) of Little Rock, AR; his grandson, Christopher James Hutchings of Springdale, AR; and a host of extended family members and friends.
