James Franklin "Jimmie" Jacobs

James Franklin “Jimmie” Jacobs, age 82, resident of Bolivar, Tennessee, departed this life Sunday afternoon, March 11, 2018 at Pine Meadows Healthcare in Bolivar.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Jacobs were conducted at 3 P.M. Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Charles Frost officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Jacobs was born December 5, 1935 in Fayette County, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Fayette County High School. He was employed with the Tennessee Department of Transportation in the materials and tests division in Jackson, Tennessee for 38 years before his retirement in 1994. Mr. Jacobs was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading, watching sports and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Vols. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his family and his friends.

Mr. Jacobs is survived by six nephews, Maurice Sparkman (Ada), Ralph Taylor (Linda), Don Taylor (Carolyn), John Boswell (Shelia), Barry Jacobs, Mark Jacobs; and his niece, Monica Remington (Ron). He also leaves a large number of great-nephews and great-nieces and his special friends, Bill and Elaine Northern, Darlene Hendrix, Bobbie and Clifford Rouse, Cindy Cromwell, Jim Robertson, Nancy Davis and Juanita Patterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Judson Jacobs and Sallie Emma Burch Jacobs; three sisters, Clara Sparkman, Bernice Minner, Frances Kiefer; three brothers, John M. Jacobs, George R. Jacobs, Robert L. Jacobs; and his niece, Joyce Ann Jacobs.

The family wishes a special thanks to Pine Meadows Healthcare nurses, CNA’s and staff.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were John Boswell, Terry Davis, Randy Glover, Carl McCaskill, Gary McCaskill and Clayton White. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Bryant, Bill Northern and Al Robertson.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Evergreen Cemetery Association, c/o Sandra Smith, 7505 Highway 76 South, Somerville, TN 38068.
