James Patrick Jennings, age 54, resident of Somerville, departed this life Sunday evening, January 3, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital – DeSoto in Southaven, Mississippi.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Jennings were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Dave Biter officiating. Remarks were given by Suzette Jennings. A visitation for Mr. Jennings will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Jennings was born June 7, 1961 in Beaufort, South Carolina. He moved with his family at an early age and received his education from Bob Reeves High School in Adak, Alaska and graduated from Morrow High School in Morrow, Georgia. He was a resident of Fayette County for 30 years and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Jennings was a farmer throughout his life and was a master gardener who enjoyed preparing food and will be remembered as a servant to his family and many others.
Mr. Jennings is survived by his mother, Opal Jennings of Somerville; two sisters, Donna DeGroff (Jim) of Memphis, Suzette Jennings of Ridgeland, MS; two brothers, Mark Jennings of Somerville, Dale Jennings (Melanie) of Oakland; eight nieces and nephews: Zachary DeGroff (Sara), Kelley Strickland (Joshua), David Bernheim, Nathaniel Bernheim, Lydia Jennings, Natalie Turk, Zy Greenwood, Bree Ella Greenwood; and four great nieces and nephews: Isaac DeGroff, Ella DeGroff, Wyatt Strickland and Lucas Jennings.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilburn Mark Jennings, Sr.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
