JAMES CAROL JORDAN, a resident of the Somerville Community, retired Military Career Person and husband of Wanda Jordan died Friday, January 1, 2010 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was 73 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral Services with Full Military Honors for Mr. Jordan were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 5th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Loyd Shelton, Baptist Minister of Rossville, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Jordan was born December 25, 1936 in the Williston Community of Fayette County. He was preceded in death by his parents, James John Jordan and Virginia Rike Jordan, early residents of the Williston Community.
He was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was a Graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville.
He was a twenty-year Veteran of the United States Air Force retiring from the Military eleven years ago.
Mr. Jordan was married June 15, 1957 to the former Wanda Moerby who survives.
Mr. Jordan returned to Fayette County after his military career and he and his family operated the Jordan Carpet Cleaning Service in Somerville for a number of years before their retirement.
He was a charter member of the Somerville Moose Lodge and was active in Lodge Activities as long as health permitted.
A Methodist, Mr. Jordan will be remembered as an avid sportsman who enjoyed volleyball and softball throughout his life. Music, record collecting and gardening were favorite pastimes.
In addition to his wife of fifty-two years, survivors of Mr. Jordan include two daughters, Linda C. Williams of Somerville and Debra A. Norris of Collierville; two sons, James V. Jordan and Phillip T. Jordan, both of Somerville; his sister, Mary Nell Campbern of Walnut, MS; his brother, Wayne R. Jordan of Williston; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Casketbearers were Military Personnel.
