James Monroe Liscome, resident of the Gallaway Community, retired Farmer and Scrap Metal Dealer died Wednesday morning, October 6, 2010 at his home. He was 79 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Liscome were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, October 12 th at the First Baptist Church of Gallaway with Rev. Ronald Grunewald of the First Baptist Church of Gallaway, officiating. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery in Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Liscome was born in Olive Branch, Mississippi on January 7, 1931 to the late Minnie Mae Kellar Liscome. He received his education from the Mississippi Public School System and had been a former resident of Florida. Mr. Liscome married on July 28, 1972 the late Linda June Johnson Liscome who preceded him in death on May 1, 2002.
Mr. Liscome will be remembered for his enjoyment of music, playing the guitar and special times with his family. He was a Tennessee Titans fan who had a special interest in stripping and selling copper.
Survivors of Mr. Liscome are his daughters, Wanda Ann Liscome of Las Vegas, NV, Loretta Sue Liscome of Oakland, TN and Linda Carol Liscome of Clayton, GA, his sons, David Wayne Liscome of Memphis, TN, Donnie Eugene Liscome of Arlington, TN, James Albert Liscome of Gallaway, TN, Anthony Joe Liscome of Tampa, FL and Larry Wayne Liscome of Gallaway, TN and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Britt Eads, Jason Hall, Donnie Hall, Kenneth Jackson, Tommy Johnson, Albert Liscome and Cody Wright.
