James Raybon McIntyre

James Raybon McIntyre, age 74, resident of Memphis, native of Williston and husband of Linda Cates McIntyre, departed this life Monday evening, May 30, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. McIntyre were conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Burke Howcroft, pastor of the Lambert Community Church in Fayette County, officiating. Interment followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. McIntyre was born November 28, 1941 in Williston, Tennessee. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married October 12, 1962 to the former Linda Cates. He was employed as a truck operator for many years before his retirement. Mr. McIntyre was a member of the Lambert Community Church in the Lambert Community of Fayette County and he had a love for tractors and special times with his family. In earlier years, he served his country in the National Guard.

Mr. McIntyre is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Cates McIntyre of Memphis; his daughter, Karen Hunt and her husband, Terry, of Memphis; two sons, Keith McIntyre of Moscow, Brian Gavrock and his wife, Susan, of Byhalia, Mississippi; his sister, Brenda McIntyre Joyner and her husband, Ronnie; four grandchildren, Andrew Stewart and his wife, Lauren, of Rockmart, Georgia, Christopher Stewart of Memphis, Johnathan Stewart of Memphis, Dylan Gavrock of Byhalia, Mississippi; and two great-grandchildren, Jaymee Stewart and Blakeley Stewart.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Lynn Cates, Kevin Cates, Brian Gavrock, Brandon Traylor, Billy Adair and Vernon Glover. Honorary pallbearers were Delbert Culver, Ferrell Culver, Raymond Hawkins and Jimmy Graham.
