JAMES E. SULTIS

JAMES E. SULTIS, resident of Vestavia Hills, Alabama (Birmingham), United States Veteran and husband of the former Vivian Morris of Somerville, died September 8, 2008. He was 88 years of age.

Funeral services for Mr. Sultis were conducted at 12:30 P.M. Friday, September 12th at the graveside with his Church Pastor at Mountain Brook Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Local arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Sultis was born in Spokane, WA, and was a resident of Texas and Pennsylvania before moving to Birmingham, AL, in 1976. He graduated from Clemson University with honors while having several outstanding years playing football. He served in the United States Navy and was employed in Management Positions at Bethlehem Steel for a number of years before his retirement.

He was a devoted member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church for 32 years where he was active in numerous church positions that included serving as Deacon and Life Deacon.

Mr. Sultis will be remembered as a people person with an ever present smile and genuine concern for others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Vivian Morris Sultis, a retired Hostess and Coordinator for the Mountain Brook Baptist Church; son Chris M. Sultis, wife Sharon and his children Allison and Ashley; Daughter Karen S. Sparks and her children, Kevin and James "Jamey", one great-granddaughter Chloe and his brother Pete Sultis and his children and grandchildren.

Local survivors include his wife's brother Carlton Morris and his wife's sister, Petesy Bedwell, both of Somerville.
