James Mallie Thomas, resident of the Somerville Community and a native Fayette Countian departed this life Sunday afternoon, June 3, 2012 at his residence. He was 70 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Thomas will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, June 8th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Grant Nixon officiating. Interment will be private and arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel in Somerville.
Mr. Thomas was born March 15, 1942 in Williston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mallie Marvin Thomas and Velma Morrow Thomas, longtime residents of the Somerville Community. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a 1960 graduate of the Fayette County High School. Mr. Thomas lived in various areas in the construction industry for a number of years and always considered Fayette County his home.
He was a Christian and in later years enjoyed woodcarving and carpentry from his woodworking shop located at his home. His interests included fishing, watching western movies and in earlier years, vehicle drag racing.
Mr. Thomas is survived by two daughters, Cindy Thomas of Grand Junction, Colorado, Leanne Thomas of Denver, Colorado; his sister, Pauline Thomas McCaskill of Memphis; his granddaughter, Latisha Dunham; and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Thomas.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Animal Rescue Organization, P.O. Box 44, Rossville, TN 38066.
