James Evans “Jim” Yarbrough, age 83, resident of Somerville and husband of Martha Ann Vess Yarbrough, departed this life Friday morning, March 18, 2016 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Yarbrough were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of the First Baptist Church Hickory Withe, officiating. Interment was at 2:30 P.M. Monday, March 21, 2016 in the Ripley Memorial Gardens in Ripley, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Yarbrough was born January 6, 1933 in Ripley, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff A. Yarbrough and Geneva Loraine Newman Yarbrough. He served his country as a young person in the United States Army and was married for 55 years to the former Martha Ann Vess. Mr. Yarbrough was a member of the First Baptist Church Hickory Withe and a resident of the Fayette County area for many years. He owned an automobile repair shop before his retirement and enjoyed fishing.
Mr. Yarbrough is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Vess Yarbrough of Somerville; two daughters, Sharon Watkins (John) of Orlando, Florida, Annette Yarbrough of Chicago, Illinois; four sons, Jeff A. Yarbrough (Jody) of Brighton, Tennessee, Ricky L. Carpenter (Beth) of Livingston, Tennessee, Arnold B. Carpenter (Cheryl) of Houston, Texas, Lynn Yarbrough; his sister, Anna Griggs of Memphis, Tennessee; 23 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the First Baptist Church Hickory Withe Mission Fund, 17675 Highway 196, Eads, Tennessee 38028.
