James Harrell “Jim” Anderson, Sr., resident of Memphis, United States Naval Veteran and father of Glenn Anderson of Oakland departed this life Tuesday evening, July 16, 2013 at his son’s residence in Oakland. He was 79 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Anderson were conducted at 1 P.M. Thursday, July 25th in McComb, Mississippi with Father Brian Kaskie of McComb officiating. Interment followed in the Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, Mississippi. Local arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Anderson was born August 30, 1933 in Albany, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jesse Anderson, II and Margaret Garland Anderson. He received his education in Louisiana and served as a young person in the United States Naval Reserve. He was married December 29, 1954 to the former Anna Mae Bruno, who survives.
Mr. Anderson was a former resident of New Orleans, Louisiana before moving to Memphis. He was a retired tax preparer for the H&R Block Company before his retirement earlier this year. He was a member of the St. Brigid Catholic Church in Memphis and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Anderson enjoyed dancing and racquetball as long as health permitted.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Mr. Anderson is survived by his daughter, Margaret Anderson Babish (Barry) of Jacksonville, FL; five sons, Paul Anderson (Peggy) of Ponchatoula, LA, James H. Anderson, Jr. of Madisonville, LA, Robby Anderson (Robin) of Huntsville, AL, Glenn Anderson (Paula) of Oakland, TN, Brad Anderson of Memphis, TN; his brother, William Jesse Anderson III (Ruth) of San Diego, CA; his brother-in-law, Vincent J. Bruno of New Orleans, LA; fifteen grandchildren and one great grandson.
