James "Jimmy" Robert Swain

James Robert “Jimmy” Swain, age 61, resident of the Somerville Community and husband of Nancy Elrod Swain, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, April 1, 2015 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Swain were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, April 4th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Adrian Knipper, pastor of the Porters Creek Baptist Church in Middleton, officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Don Hammons, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Somerville. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Swain was born November 15, 1953 in Stanton, Tennessee, the son of the former Edna Freels and the late Joe Swain. He received his education in the Haywood County Public School System and was married for 41 years to the former Nancy Elrod, who survives. Mr. Swain was of the Baptist faith and a resident of the Somerville Community for a number of years. He was employed as a mechanic for Fayette County Public Works before his retirement. He enjoyed special times with his grandchildren and friends. Mr. Swain had a special love for the neighborhood dog, “Cheesy Dog”.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Swain is survived by his daughter, Amy Gray (Barry) of Savannah; his son, Bradley Swain (Erika) of Smyrna; his mother, Edna Forsythe of Brownsville; four sisters, Kathy Watson (Brian) of Hillville, Betty Young (Brett) of Dyersburg, Susie Crawford of Brownsville, Anita Swain of Dyersburg; his brother, Bobby Swain of Brownsville; and three grandchildren, Alyson Gray, Maggie Gray and Carrie Elizabeth Gray, all of Savannah.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
