James Robert Endress

James Robert Endress, age 82, resident of Oakland and husband of Bronda Jane Endress, departed this life Wednesday morning, January 25, 2017 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Endress were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. David Peace, pastor of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Whiteville and Bro. Jack Gresham, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Macon, officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Whiteville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Endress was born May 31, 1934 in Cherry, Tennessee at the very spot where the Fort Pillow State Park Museum is currently located. He received his education from Bartlett High School and served his country in the United States Marines. He was in management at Browning Ferris Industries before his retirement. Mr. Endress was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Whiteville where he was the assistant pianist and enjoyed reading, being outdoors, gardening, woodworking, country and gospel music and special times with family and friends. He played the keyboard and guitar with many bands from Fayette, Hardeman and Shelby Counties in Tennessee and will be remembered for being a lifelong learner.

Mr. Endress is survived by his wife whom he married May 14,1968, Bronda Jane Steen Endress of Oakland, TN; his daughter, Wanda Trieschman (Thomas) of Lakeland, TN; two sons, James G. Endress of Memphis, TN, Robert W. Endress (Sherri) of Duncan, OK; twelve grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Abner Endress and Clara Evelyn Durham Endress; and his son, Karl Russell Endress.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Tommy Kemp, Jimmy Krepela, John Ingle, Jimmy Hoskins, Robert Boyd Parker and George Kyle. Honorary pallbearers were L.A. Rodgers, Jimmy Smallwood, Bob Peterson, Ellis Mize, Arthur German, Bruce Davidson, Ray Motley and Larry Butler.

The family requests that memorials be directed to F.A.R.E., 7925 Jones Branch Drive, McLean, VA  22102.
