James Wilson “Jimmy” Snowden, Sr., age 76, resident of Somerville and husband of the late Betty Lou White Snowden, departed this life Sunday evening, October 29, 2017 at the National Healthcare Center in Somerville.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Snowden were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Peebles Main Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Mike Pilcher and Rev. Greg Taylor officiating. Interment followed in Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel in Somerville.
Mr. Snowden was born June 27, 1941 in Somerville, Tennessee, the son of the late Claude Powell “C.P.” Snowden and Betty Cross Rhea Snowden. He received his education in the Fayette County School System and was a native farmer in the rural area of Fayette County. Mr. Snowden was married February 15, 1963 to the former Betty Lou White, who preceded him in death on November 15, 2016. He was a lifelong resident of the Somerville area and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Fayette County. Mr. Snowden enjoyed drag racing, working on cars and special times with his family.
Mr. Snowden is survived by his daughter, Amy Morrisson (Tom) of Somerville, TN; his son, Jim Snowden (Kristi) of Somerville, TN; his sister, Mary Lou Pilcher (Mike) of Somerville, TN; and two grandchildren, Julia C. Snowden of Somerville, TN and Caleb P. Snowden of Somerville, TN.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Bob Walker, John Sullivan, Taylor Sullivan, Bradley Jones, Darrin Doyle and Tom Morrisson.
