JAN WAYNE WINDHAM, resident of Germantown with extended family members in the Somerville community and wife of Joe Wade Windham, died at 3 A.M. Friday, March 28, 2008, at her residence. She was 66 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Windham were conducted at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, March 30th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Pastor Russell Hamm of Corinth, MS, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Windham was born April 4, 1941, in Memphis and was educated in the public school system of Shelby County. Mrs. Windham was married in 1964 to Joe Wade Windham, retired owner of Dixie Fence Company in Memphis, who survives. Mrs. Windham was a homemaker and in earlier years was employed by the Crye-Leike Real Estate Company in Memphis and the Tunica Casinos. Mrs. Windham was a Christian and will be remembered as a loving wife and mother.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Windham is survived by her son, Manny Windham of Bentonville, AR and her mother and step-father, Nina and John K. Harvey of Bartlett, formerly of Somerville.
Casketbearers were family members & friends and the family request that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38106.
