Janice (Garrison) Baker

June 6, 1951 — June 18, 2013

Janice Garrison Baker, resident of Horn Lake, Mississippi and daughter of Kenneth Garrison of the Moscow Community departed this life Tuesday morning, June 18, 2013 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient since March 20th. She was 62 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Graveside Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Baker were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, June 21st with Bro. Wayne Hodge, pastor of the Forty-Five Baptist Church in Moscow officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Baker was born June 6, 1951 in Memphis, the daughter of Kenneth Harris Garrison and the late Ola Beatrice Duffel Garrison. She received her education in the Memphis Public School System and was the wife of the late Joseph Baker, who preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Baker had been a resident of Horn Lake, Mississippi for a number of years. She had been employed as a loan processor with the National Mortgage Company in earlier years and was a homemaker throughout her life.

She was of the Baptist faith and her interests included painting and art. She will be remembered as a very artistic person with a deep devotion to her family. She exhibited a great love for her grandchildren and was a lifelong resident of North Mississippi and West Tennessee.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her son, Scott Rhodes and wife, Melissa of Jackson, TN; her father, Kenneth H. Garrison of Moscow; two sisters, Sandra Sparkman of Williston, Phyllis Kelman of Collierville; two grandsons, Brandon and Gavin Rhodes; two great granddaughters, Abigail and Maci Rhodes; six stepchildren and a number of step grandchildren. Janice was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews and she is also survived by a very special friend for many years, Vickie McCormick.

Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
