Jean Ruth Kinney Cobb, 95, resident of Collierville and wife of the late Thomas Rooks Cobb, Sr., departed this life Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Schilling Gardens Assisted Living in Collierville.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Cobb were conducted at 1 P.M. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with David Bingham officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Cobb was born February 5, 1921 in Brownsville. She was a graduate of Haywood County High School and was the secretary at the Brownsville First Methodist Church for 25 years before retiring and moving to Somerville to be with her family. Jean was a friend to so many throughout her life. She loved her family and loved life in such a positive way, always greeting everyone with a smile.
Mrs. Cobb is survived by her daughter, JoAnne Cobb; half-sister, Karen W. Kinney; four grandchildren and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rooks Cobb, Sr.; her parents, Alfred and Ruth Pittman Kinney; daughter, Katherine Cobb Donovan; and son, Thomas Rooks Cobb, Jr.
Pallbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville First United Methodist Church, 202 S. East Street, Somerville, TN 38068 or to any charity of the donor's choice.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the extended family at Schilling Gardens Assisted Living in Collierville and to Crossroads Hospice for the care and support provided for Mrs. Cobb and her family.
