Jean Daniel Owens, age 85, resident of Moscow and wife of Joe David Owens, departed this life Friday afternoon, February 17, 2017 at the Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Owens were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Bro. David Parlow, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Owens was born December 5, 1931 in New Albany, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Lee Daniel and Macie Bell Williams Daniel. She received her education at Dumas High School in Mississippi and was married August 15, 1963 to Joe David Owens. Mrs. Owens was employed as a switchboard operator for Transcon Trucking before her retirement. She was a resident of the Moscow area since 1993 and was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Owens is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joe David Owens of Moscow, TN; her son, Michael G. Williams of Memphis, TN; her sister, Christine Ketchum (Laverne) of New Albany, MS; her granddaughter, Autumn Nicole Williams of Fayetteville, AR; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb Smith and Henley Smith, both of Fayetteville, AR.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Chris Morris, Jimmy Skelton, Billy McClure, Ricky Ward, Bobby Joe Crisp and James Teague.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Oak Grove Baptist Church, 1960 Oak Grove Drive, Moscow, TN 38057.
