Jeanette MacDonald (Buffaloe) Hampton

March 1, 1939 — September 27, 2012

Jeanette MacDonald Buffaloe Hampton, resident of Memphis and native Fayette Countian died Thursday morning, September 27, 2012 at the Ashton Place Rehabilitation and Care Center in Memphis where she had been a resident since October 2007. She was 73 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Hampton were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday October 1st at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Ricky Burns, pastor of the Williston Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Hampton was born March 1, 1939 in Somerville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Hess Buffaloe, Sr. and Annie Lee Hill Buffaloe. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and had been a resident of the Somerville and Memphis areas for much of her life. She was the wife of the late Billy Joe Hampton of Somerville, who died tragically in a vehicle accident at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky in 1976.

Mrs. Hampton and her family were longtime members of the Somerville First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years, was employed by telemarketing agencies in the Memphis area. Mrs. Hampton was a family-oriented person who always considered Fayette County as her home.

Mrs. Hampton is survived by her daughter, Angela Gail Betts of Little Rock, AR; her son, Ronnie Mack Hampton of Old Hickory, TN; and her sisters, Beatrice Buffaloe Massey of Somerville and Mary Buffaloe Hillman of Somerville.

Mrs. Hampton was preceded in death by her husband, her brother and sisters, all natives of the Somerville Community.

Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville First Baptist Church, 12685 South Main Street, Somerville, TN 38068 or the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
