Jerry Richard Baggott

August 13, 1950 — April 14, 2015

Jerry Richard Baggott, age 64, resident of Oakland and husband of Sally Dekoe Baggott, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, April 14, 2015 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance with Military Honors for Mr. Baggott were conducted at 3 P.M. Friday, April 17th at the Somerville First Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen White officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Baggott was born August 13, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennyslvania and was raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred T. Baggott and Lucillle Weaver Meyer. He was married October 18, 1974 to the former Sally Dekoe, who survives. Mr. Baggott served his country in the United States Marine Corps for four years including a tour of duty during the Vietnam period. He also served as an Army National Guard recruiter in Connecticut for eight years. He later became a motivational speaker for the National Guard and corporations across the country. Mr. Baggott loved the Lord with all of his heart and was truly a prayer warrior. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his family members and being a loving PawPaw to his grandchildren. He will forever be loved and missed.

In addition to his wife of 41 years, Mr. Baggott is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Michelle Baggott McLemore (Chris) of Oakland; his son, Nicholas Richard Baggott (Katrina) of Oakland; his mother, Martha Anderson of Nashville; two brothers, Johnny Crumby, Sr. of Nashville, Mike Haskell of Texas; three sisters, Charlene Lawrence, Marlene Baker, Darlene Johnson, all of the Nashville area; and four grandchildren, Hannah McLemore, Haven McLemore, Ethan McLemore and Luke Richard Baggott.
