Jerry Wayne Glover, Sr.
1949—2010
Jerry Wayne Glover, Sr., resident of the Moscow Community, longtime Fayette County Auto Mechanic and U. S. Army Veteran died Monday morning, September 13, 2010 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for eight days. He was 61 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Glover were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, September 15th at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Artie Fulcher of the Shady Grove Baptist Church, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. David Peace of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Interment with Military Honors followed in Perry Cemetery near Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
A native of Fayette County, Mr. Glover was born in Somerville on February 26, 1949, the son of the late George Glover and the late Rubye Lee Glover. He was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Glover was of the Methodist Faith and had been an automobile mechanic for over 40 years in Fayette County. He will be remember for his love of the outdoors and his interests included hunting, fishing, gardening and yard work.
Survivors of Mr. Glover include his three sons: Jerry “Jay” Wayne Glover, Jr. (Tina) of Somerville, Michael Glover (fiancé Stephanie Sweeney) of Moscow and Kevin Glover (Jennifer) of Somerville, his sisters: Sue Phillips (Bobby Joe) of Somerville, Ann Adams (J. T.) of Somerville, Ellen Voyles of Somerville, Jane Ridley (Clous) of Whiteville, Ruth Darnell of Collierville, Faye Morton (Bob) of Brownsville and Georgia Melton of Atwater, CA, his brothers: Floyd Glover (Sue) of Somerville, Bobby Glover (Marsha) of Whiteville and James “Bud” Glover (Corrine) of Williston, five grandchildren: Jacob Glover of Oakland, Sophia Glover of Somerville, Sarah Davis of Mantachie, Mississippi, Jennifer Wilson of West Memphis, Arkansas and Noah Sweeney of Moscow and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Glover was preceded in death by two brothers: Harold Glover and Charles Glover.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were his sons and family members. Honorary casketbearers were J. W. Brown, Kenneth Ernest, Jason German, Bryan Glover and Randy Glover.
