"JERRY" WAYNE MATLOCK
February 14, 1937 — October 21, 2009
GERALD WAYNE "JERRY" MATLOCK, a resident of the Hickory Withe Community and former resident of Texas for a number of years died Wednesday morning October 21, 2009 at the Galloway Healthcare Center where he had resided for two-and-a-half years. He was 72 years of age and died following an extended illness.
A Private Service of Remembrance for Mr. Matlock was conducted with Rev. Ed Eubanks, Pastor of the Hickory Withe Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Matlock was born in Martin, Tennessee on February 14, 1937. His parents, Truman Matlock and Juanita Taylor Matlock, preceded him in death.
He was educated in the Weakley County, Tennessee Public School System and at an early age moved with his parents to Chicago.
He was of the Presbyterian faith and was a Mason.
He was employed by various oil rig operations based off the Texas coast and also served in earlier years as a volunteer fireman.
Survivors of Mr. Matlock include his son, Stephen A. Matlock and wife Angela of Hickory Withe; two grandchildren, Samantha Gray of Oakland and Kristan Pittman of Hickory Withe and ten brothers and sisters.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
