James Burton “Jim” Grissom, age 71, resident of Eads, Tennessee and husband of Deborah “Debbie” Coulter Grissom, departed this life Sunday afternoon, February 18, 2018 at the Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Grissom were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Grissom was born June 10, 1946 in Tremont, Mississippi. He received his education at Messick High School in Memphis and served his country in the United States Marine Corps where he earned a Purple Heart. He was married October 6, 1989 to the former Deborah “Debbie” Coulter and he was a member of Hickory Withe First Baptist Church. Mr. Grissom was an electrician with the IBEW Local 474 and enjoyed bowling, fishing and reading.
Mr. Grissom is survived by his wife of 29 years, Debbie Grissom; his daughter, Shaianne Lyles of Memphis, TN; his son, Jeremiah Grissom of Colorado; and his sister, Janet Allman of Pensacola, Florida.
He is preceded by his parents, Curtis Grissom and Corene Kennedy Grissom Curtis; his sister, Earline Gulledge and two brothers, L.C. Grissom and Johnny Grissom.
