JAMES ROBERT JACKSON, a resident of Camden, Tennessee and a former resident of the Whiteville Community died Monday afternoon, March 8, 2010 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee where he had been a patient for one week. He was 52 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Jackson were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, March 11th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Dr. Bobby Scobey, Pastor of the Cornerstone Church in Bartlett, officiating. Interment followed in the Melrose Cemetery at Whiteville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Jackson was born in Whiteville, Tennessee on January 31, 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Draper Jackson and Neater Virginia Harrison Jackson. Mr. Jackson's late father will be remembered as Principal of the Whiteville School and later Athletic Coach of the Munford School System.
Mr. Jackson was educated in the Hardeman County Public School System, graduating from the Bolivar High School and continued his education at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
He was employed as a Millwright as long as health permitted.
Mr. Jackson was a Baptist and a former resident of the Somerville Community in recent years.
Survivors of Mr. Jackson include his sister, Janice Jackson of Lakeland, TN and his brother, William Harris Jackson of Naples, FL. Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Jack Crawford, Fred Holland, Roy Scobey, David Smith, Michael Tilghman and Jim Vickery.
