Jimmie Wayne King

July 8, 1958 — November 9, 2007

JIMMIE WAYNE KING, resident of the Hickory Withe Community and husband of Wanda Stafford King died at 5:30 A.M. Friday, November 9, 2007 at his home on Fleta Drive. He was 49 years of age and died following a six-month illness.


Funeral services for Mr. King were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, November 11th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel on Hwy. 64 at Oakland with Rev. Anthony Rowland of Bethel Springs, TN officiating. Interment followed in the Woodville Cemetery near Hornsby, TN.  Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel.


Mr. King was born July 8, 1958 in Memphis, the son of Evelyn Hatch King and the late Jimmie Dexter King. He moved with his family at an early age to Fayette County and was a graduate of the Fayette Ware High School in Somerville.


He was married September 1, 1985 to the former Rhonda Stafford, a native of the Brighton Community and a Wal-Mart associate, who survives. Mr. King was of the Baptist faith and was a lifelong resident of the Shelby and Fayette County areas. He was employed as a Plate Mounter for the Star II Company in Gallaway before his illness and will be remembered for his love of hunting, guns and nature.


In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Alicia Thompson (Chris) of Oakland and Brandy King of Arlington; two sons, Jamie King of Arlington and Ashley King (Bridget) of Bartlett; his mother, Evelyn Hatch King of Hickory Withe; his sister, Belinda Edlund of Mason; his brother Vernon Humphreys of Batesville, AR and three grandchildren: Payton King, Brianna King and Baby Thompson.


He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Dexter King and his sister, Betty Jones.


Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jamie King, Ashley King, Chris Thompson, Vernon Humphreys, Mel Qualls and Jonathan Lampley.
