Jimmie Lou “Bo” Swift Free, resident of Millington, Tennessee and related to Gammel family members throughout Fayette County departed this life Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2013 at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis. She was 61 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Free were conducted at 4 P.M. Tuesday, May 28th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. The officiating minister was Rev. Kent Bailey of Somerville. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Free was born January 18, 1952 in Blytheville, Arkansas, the daughter of Louise Marie “Lou” Younger Swift and the late James Leo Swift, Jr. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was married August 8, 1970 to Kenneth Edward “Kenny” Free, a fleet manager and truck operator for Easley Transportation in Memphis, who survives.
Mrs. Free was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker throughout her life. She had been a resident of Millington for the past 35 years and her interests included working with ceramics, preparing food for her family and special times with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 43 years, Mrs. Free is survived by four sons, Kenneth Free, II (David), Jeff Free (Wendy), Joey Free (Hope) all of Drummonds Community, Chad Free (Kadee) of Millington; her mother, Louise Marie “Lou” Younger Swift of Brighton; her brother, James L. “Jamey” Swift, III (Cindy) of Memphis; and four grandchildren, Shannon Free, Jr., Austin Free, Joey “JoJo” Free, Jr. and Emma Free.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Tammy S. Swift.
