Jimmy Lee Richmond, age 87, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Lyvonne Lee Alsbrook Richmond, departed this life into the Presence of the Lord, Wednesday afternoon, February 14, 2018 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Richmond were conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Jason Moore, pastor of Oakland First Baptist Church, officiating. He was assisted by Don DeVries. Interment followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Richmond was born July 28, 1930 in Henderson, Kentucky, the son of Albert Vernon Richmond and Thelma West Richmond. He was a former resident of Lake Cormorant, Mississippi and most recently a resident of Oakland, Tennessee. He served his country in the United States Air Force, was a partner and salesman with Marx and Bensdorf Real Estate Company in Memphis and was the former owner of The Peanut Shoppe on Main Street in Memphis before his retirement. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Ole Miss Rebels and loved woodworking in his shop.
Mr. Richmond is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lyvonne Lee Alsbrook Richmond of Oakland, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 14 years, Dorothy Gatewood Richmond and wife of 30 years, Virginia Sammons Richmond. He also leaves six daughters, Judy Richmond Gionti (Tony) of Bartlett, TN, Luanne Richmond Burnett of Bartlett, TN, Deborah Richmond Everton (Gary) of Nashville, TN, Laurie Richmond Steward (Fred) of Germantown, TN, Patricia Richmond DeVries (Don) of Montgomery Village, MD, Shellie Richmond Collins (Bruce) of Memphis, TN; two stepsons, Ray Alsbrook (Patricia) of Cordova, TN, Danny Alsbrook of Memphis, TN; his brother, Albert Vernon Richmond, Jr. of Key Largo, FL; twelve grandchildren, Angie Martin (David), Adam Woodford, Paul Gionti, Landon Moore, Richmond Moore, Griffin Moore, David DeVries (Hannah), Ben DeVries, Will Collins, Sam Collins, Jennifer Moore (Beau), Diana Alsbrook; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Tony Gionti, Don DeVries, Bruce Collins, Fred Steward, Ray Alsbrook and Danny Alsbrook. Honorary pallbearers were Adam Woodford, Paul Gionti, Jr., Landon Moore, David DeVries, Ben DeVries and Will Collins.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Oakland First Baptist Church, 8695 U.S. Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
