Jimmy Dell Gentry

Jimmy Dell Gentry, age 73, resident of Somerville and husband of Brenda Sue Gentry, departed this life Tuesday evening, April 10, 2018 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Gentry were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Jim Whitley officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Gentry was born November 22, 1944 in Baldwyn, Mississippi. He received his education in the Mississippi School System and served his country for four years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War period. He was employed as an Emergency Medical Technician, Transportation and Service Technician for the Methodist Healthcare System for 20 years before his retirement. Mr. Gentry was a resident of the Fayette County area for 40 years and was a member of Feathers Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville. He enjoyed traveling, photography, gardening and fishing.

Mr. Gentry is survived by his wife who he married October 30, 1976, Brenda Sue Reed Gentry of Somerville, TN; his daughter, Barbara Gentry Derouen (Shannon) of Cordova, TN; his son, David Anthony Gentry of Somerville, TN; and three sisters, Janie Elizabeth Miller of Pueblo, CO, Cora Marie Girodo (Frank) of Pueblo, CO and Gloria Jean Westbrook (Bob) of Sardis, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke Wilder Gentry and Cora Bethany Roberts Gentry and two brothers, Ludie Gentry and Gene Gentry.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Danny Gentry, Robbie Gentry, Michael Taylor, Tim Robinson, Bill Hardwick and Clint Culver. Alternate pallbearers were Bob Westbrook and Shannon Derouen.
