Joseph Thurman “Joe” McAdams, resident of the Somerville Community and retired engineer, departed this life Tuesday morning, September 9, 2014 at his residence. He was 75 years of age and died following an illness of six months.
Services and Interment for Mr. McAdams will be private. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. McAdams was born December 14, 1938 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesson Thurman McAdams and Alice Kathleen Cale McAdams. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Memphis State University.
Mr. McAdams served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a young person and was a lifelong resident of West Tennessee and Arkansas. He was of the Disciples of Christ faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, welding and anything mechanical. He received much pleasure in preparing the track at Riverside Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas.
Mr. McAdams is survived by his daughter, Allison Jones of Huntsville, Alabama; his son, John McAdams (Regina) of Somerville; five grandchildren, John, Jason, Amanda, Josh, Caleb; and one great granddaughter, Gabby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Allan McAdams.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
