JOE ERNEST RENSHAW, a resident of Bethel Island, California, retired Gas Welder and Inspector and husband of Helen Lovering Renshaw died Thursday morning, March 11, 2010 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for one day. Mr. Renshaw was visiting relatives in Fayette County when he became suddenly ill. He was 74 years of age and died unexpectedly.
Funeral services for Mr. Renshaw were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, March 13th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Joshua Willadsen, Pastor of the Oakland Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 18th in the Skylawn Memorial Park Cemetery at San Mateo, California. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
A native of Tulot, Arkansas, Mr. Renshaw was born October 25, 1935, the son of Herman Renshaw and Bernice Long Renshaw, both now deceased.
Mr. Renshaw was educated in the Trumann, Arkansas Public School System and was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving in Japan during the Korean War Period.
He was married June 2, 1956 to the former Helen Lovering, retired Computer Operator, who survives.
He was employed as a Gas Welder and Inspector for the Pacific Gas & Electric Corporation in San Francisco for over thirty-seven years before his retirement.
He was of the Christian faith and had been a resident of Bethel Island, California since 1993.
Mr. Renshaw was an active member of the Bethel Island Lions Club and his interests included fishing, vegetable gardening and hobby wood-working.
In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, survivors of Mr. Renshaw include his daughter, Darlene Baughn (Mark) of Minden, NV; a son, Andy Renshaw (Michele) of Moscow, TN; three sisters: Betty Williamson of Memphis; Dorothy Ann Stonecipher of Houma, LA and Deborah Hartley of Trumann, AR; three brothers: David Ray Renshaw of Trumann, AR; Eddie Dale Renshaw of Memphis and Gene Renshaw of Jonesboro, AR and four grandchildren: John Baughn, Jamie Baughn, Jessica Baughn and Jeffrey Baughn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joe Renshaw, Jr., four sisters and four brothers.
