Joe Thomas Williams

Joe Thomas Williams, age 78, resident of Eads and husband of the late Cheryl Dean Edwards Williams, departed this life Monday morning, May 2, 2016 at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Williams were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Gregg Moffitt, pastor of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Arlington, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Williams was born February 14, 1938 in Hickman, Kentucky. He received his education at the University of Kentucky and was married August 9, 1959 to the former Cheryl Dean Edwards. He was a longtime resident of the Eads Community and was employed as a meat cutter at Piggly Wiggly and Seessel's before his retirement. Mr. Williams was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Arlington and loved hunting, fishing, gardening and going to church.

Mr. Williams is survived by his daughter, Kellye Angelici and her significant other, Terry Miller, of Cordova; his son, Jeffrey Reed Williams of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Ann Mosley of Fulton, Kentucky, Sue Miller of Union City, Tennessee; two brothers, Billy Williams and his wife, Marilyn, of Paducah, Kentucky, Jimmy Williams and his wife, Joan, of Fulton, Kentucky; and four grandchildren, Chad McCall, Kelly McCall, Brittney Miller and Nick Miller.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Dean Edwards Williams who died June 26, 2014; his parents, Len Williams and Violet Bonderant Williams; his sister, Lucille Phelps; and two brothers, Bobby Williams and David Rogers.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Danny Kreiser, Brian Purdy, Terry Miller, Danny Hogan, Bruce Grooms and Matt Biddinger. Honorary pallbearers included Stephen Moffitt.

The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38148.
