Joe Thomas “Tommy” Kirk, 64, resident of the Oakland Community, Service Writer for Abra Auto Body & Glass in Memphis and husband of Deborah Sawyer Kirk died Tuesday morning, October 26, 2010 at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for one week.
He was 64 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Kirk were conducted at 10 AM Tuesday, November 2nd at the Faith United Methodist Church at Oakland with Rev. Michael Jay Pence, officiating. Private Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.
Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Kirk was born in Atwood, Tennessee on August 16, 1946 the son of the late Jesse Kirk and the late Ozza Lee Cathey Kirk. He received his education in the Tennessee Public School System and was a resident of Memphis before moving to the Oakland Community seven years ago. Mr. Kirk was a Christian who enjoyed nature and fishing.
Mr. Kirk was married July 9, 1976 to the former Deborah Sawyer of Royal Oak, Michigan, who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Kirk leaves his daughter, Alison Rauschenberger (Heath) of St. Augustine, Florida, his son, Matthew Kirk (Kristin) of Huntsville, North Carolina, his sister, Nancy Ivey (Wesley) of Jackson, Tennessee and four grandchildren.
