John “Wayne” Golightly, age 68, resident of Arlington, departed this life Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, TN.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Golightly were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Kevin Treadway of Somerville officiating. Interment followed in the Mudville Cemetery in the Rosemark Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Golightly was born on April 24, 1948 in Mudville, TN. He began his career as a truck driver for Fletcher Concrete for 18 years and later worked for the City of Memphis and TDOT as a heavy equipment operator for over 20 years before his retirement. Mr. Golightly enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to fish, enjoyed the outdoors and carpentry. Mr. Golightly enjoyed action, adventure and western movies and had a special love for Nascar, especially Dale Jarrett.
Mr. Golightly is survived by his wife Lisa Golightly of Arlington, TN, two sons, John Wayne Golightly, Jr. of Arlington, TN and Jason Waddell Golightly of Princeton, KY; five sisters, Lucille Holden of Whiteville, TN, Marie Fortune of Moscow, TN, Peggy Yarbro of Somerville, TN, Betty Sue Culver (Troy Farrell) of Somerville, TN and Dianne Joyner (Dennis) of Collierville, TN; one brother, Thurmon Hardee of Millington, TN and one grandson, John Wayne “Little Wayne” Golightly, III of Arlington, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Golightly and Jennie Prosser Golightly and three brothers, Wesley “Buck” Golightly, Bill Golightly and Robert Hardee.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Matthew Wood, Larry Flynn, Larry Wayne Flynn, Kenny Kocke, Brian Culver and Mike Culver.
