John Melvin Green, age 58, resident of Oakland and husband of Jeannette Green, departed this life Friday afternoon, July 14, 2017 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Green were conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Dave Biter of Oakland officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Green was born February 6, 1959 in Hammond, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Green and Lydia Humes Green. He attended schools in Hammond, Indiana and Paragould, Arkansas, graduating high school in 1977, and attended State Tech Community College (now Southwest Tennessee Community College) in Memphis. Mr. Green was married June 23, 1979 to the former Jeannette Cornwell and was of the Christian faith.
Mr. Green was employed at Wiese Forklifts in Memphis as a field service technician and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing, camping, gunsmithing and reading. He will be remembered as a person who never met a stranger, loved life and his family and friends and his priority in life was to treat people fairly and with respect. He valued honesty and taught his children to do the same.
Mr. Green is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jeannette Green of Oakland, TN; his daughter, Amberley Green (Trent Daniel) of Bartlett, TN; his son, Eric Green (Erika) of Oakland, TN; his brother, Larry Green (Rona) of Ellicott City, MD; and two grandchildren, Madison Green and Gabriel Green.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 506 Halle Park Drive #101, Collierville, TN 38017.
