John Howell Hooks, III

John Howell Hooks III, resident of the Ramer Community with family members in Fayette County and Arlington areas was discovered dead of undetermined causes on August 11, 2012 in McNairy County, Tennessee. He was 56 years of age and died unexpectedly.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Hooks were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, November 30th with Bro. Bengy Massey of the Trinity Baptist Church in Michie, Tennessee officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery near Tishomingo, Mississippi. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Hooks was born September 12, 1955 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Howell Hooks, Jr. and Isabel Claire Dodd Hooks. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and had been a resident of the Ramer Community for the past 30 years. He had been employed as a security officer for the Murray Guard Corporation in Jackson before retiring for health reasons.

He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church at Michie. Mr. Hooks enjoyed all kinds of pets and repairing vehicles and machinery.

Mr. Hooks is survived by two sisters, Brenda Johnson of Nashville, Carol Cartwright of Ramer, TN; his brother-in-law, Bobby Cartwright of Ramer, TN; his aunt, Lacie Burrow of Arlington; and two nephews, Justin Cartwright and Jeremy Cartwright.
