John Eddie Jones

February 2, 1949 — June 10, 2014

John Eddie Jones, resident of Moscow and retired from the Bodine Company in Collierville, departed this life Tuesday morning, June 10, 2014 at his residence. He was 65 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Jones were conducted at 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 13th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. John Ed Watkins of Somerville officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Matthew Watkins of the Grace Pointe Church in Whiteville. Special music was provided by John Ed and Donna Watkins, Brandon Jones and Tiffany Watkins. Interment followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery at Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Jones was born February 2, 1949 in Coffeeville, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Edward Jones and Inez Pinion Jones. He received his education in the Yalobusha County, Mississippi Public School System and was a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville. Mr. Jones was a resident of Mississippi and West Tennessee for much of his life.

Mr. Jones was employed as a press operator for the Bodine Company for 25 years before his retirement. He enjoyed outdoor activities that included gardening, mowing his lawn and caring for his pet canine, “Sonny” Jones. Special times with his family and church activities that included singing were favorite pastimes.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Jones; three sons, John Eddie Cox (Angela) of Waverly, TN, Terry Allen Jones (Rubie) of Arlington, TN, John Dewayne Jones (Michelle) of Moscow, TN; six sisters, Bertha Lou Moore of Batesville, MS, Beverly Jo Moore of Batesville, MS, Shirley Ann Bryant of Stanton, TN, Mary Francis Brizzel of Middleton, TN, Margaret Catherine McClain of Mathiston, MS, Dorothy Jean Rowland of Oxford, MS; three brothers, Jimmy L. Jones of Somerville, Howard E. Jones of Walnut, MS, Billy D. Jones of Memphis; sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Johnny Murley, Robbie Rowland, Danny Moore, Ronnie Moore, Ricky Moore and Stacey Williford.
