John Warren Knopf, age 69, resident of Collierville, former resident of Moscow and husband of Helen D. Lawhorn Knopf, departed this life Monday morning, May 15, 2017 at his residence.
Services and Interment for Mr. Knopf were private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Knopf was born January 28, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Harold Knopf and Mary Towry Knopf. He was a graduate of Treadwell High School in Memphis and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Period, where he earned a Purple Heart. Mr. Knopf was a former resident of the Moscow area and was employed as a lineman for Bellsouth for 30 years before his retirement. He received his pilot’s license at the age of 14 and he enjoyed working on computers and gadgets.
Mr. Knopf is survived by his wife, Helen D. Lawhorn Knopf of Collierville, TN; his daughter, Regina Marie Knopf of Tuscaloosa, AL; his son, John S. Knopf (Susan) of Somerville, TN; his brother, Bobby Knopf of Southaven, MS; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
