John Norman Lauffer

John Norman Lauffer, age 72, resident of the Somerville Community and husband of Linda Murphy Lauffer, departed this life Friday afternoon, November 21, 2014 at his residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Lauffer will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, December 5th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with visitation two hours before services. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Lauffer was born April 30, 1942 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland Norman Lauffer and Estelle Virginia Anderson Lauffer. He received his education in the Portage, Pennsylvania School System and was the husband of Linda Murphey Lauffer, who survives. He was employed as an aircraft mechanic at Northwest Airlines  for 41 years before his retirement in 2003. Mr. Lauffer was raised in the Catholic faith and enjoyed airplanes, motorcycles, sailing, riding dirt bikes, flying model airplanes and tractors.

Mr. Lauffer is survived by his wife, Linda Murphy Lauffer of Surprise, Arizona; his son, Sean Daniel Lauffer (Christina) of Memphis; his stepdaughter, Julie Allen Neal of Surprise, Arizona; two stepsons, Billy Allen and Jimmy Turk, both of Surprise, Arizona; three sisters, Ann Marie Lauffer of Front Royal, Virginia, Louise Lantzy of Dover, Delaware, Susan O'Hara of Medford, New Jersey; two brothers, Charles Leland Lauffer of Renton, Washington, Michael Lauffer of Newcastle, Washington; and three grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Leslie "Joe" Lauffer.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Little Sisters of the Poor, c/o Jeanne Jugan, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, Delaware 19713-2997 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
