John Calvin Lisman

Oakland, Tennessee

John Calvin Lisman, resident of the Oakland Community and well-known area professional golfer, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, March 5, 2014 at his residence. He was 64 years of age and died following a brief illness.

At the request of Mr. Lisman’s family, Services and Interment were private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Lisman was born October 15, 1949 in Princeton, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Labe Calvin Lisman and Mamie Elizabeth Wallace Lisman. He received his education in the Princeton, Kentucky Public School System and continued his education at the Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was married November 25, 1972 to the former Linda Quirey, who currently serves as office manager of the Fair Oaks Golf Course.

Mr. Lisman was a professional golfer for over 40 years and had been a resident of the Oakland Community since 2006. He was responsible for the operation of the Fair Oaks Golf Course in Oakland and took much pride in operating the golf course at a high level and receiving recognition as one of the outstanding golf courses in the West Tennessee area. Mr. Lisman was of the Presbyterian faith. In addition to his passion for golf, he enjoyed traveling and horses.

Mr. Lisman leaves his wife of 41 years and is survived by two sisters, Mary Jane Hall of San Antonio, TX and Laska Darling of Bluffton, SC; and his brother, David Ray Simpson of Sturgis, KY.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
