John David Rook

John David Rook, age 77, husband of Joann Kolacinski Rook and a resident of the Hickory Withe Community, departed to Heaven on Friday morning, June 27, 2014. Mr. Rook was a Godly man who loved the Lord, his bride of more than 25 years, his family and his country.

A Life Celebration Service for Mr. Rook was conducted at 6 P.M. Tuesday, July 8th at the Church of the Harvest in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Rook was born February 3, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lyons Rook II and Verna Louise King Rook. He received his education in Memphis and served in the Tennessee National Guard from 1953-1956, was employed as a First Mate on the river, taught at the River Academy and for the last 20 years was a carpet and flooring Salesman. He was an active member of Church Of The Harvest in Olive Branch, Mississippi. He was married November 19, 1988 to the former Joann Kolacinski, who survives him.

In addition to his wife of 25 years, Mr. Rook is survived by three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Rook Surgener of Lucy, TN, Jenifer Kendall of Westfield, IN, Alexandra Morrison (Jeremiah) of El Dorado, AR; his sister, Sarah Rook Perkins of Memphis; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Brandi, Britni, Elaina, Johnathan, Katie, Malachi, Justice, Rebecca; two great grandchildren, Myia and Briahna; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family wishes to extend a Special Thanks to the many friends and family members who prayed, encouraged and helped the family in so many ways during this time. Their loving hearts, deeds and expressions will forever be remembered and cherished. Mr. Rook brought laughter and life to those around him and he will be missed, but we look forward to when we will meet again.
