John Alan Soltow

April 25, 1955 — November 19, 2013

John Alan Soltow, resident of Lusby, Maryland and son of John Ray Soltow of Moscow departed this life Tuesday morning, November 19, 2013 at the Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, Maryland where he had been a patient for six days. He was 58 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.   

Services of Remembrance with Military Honors for Mr. Soltow were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, November 25th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.

John was born April 25, 1955 in Weisbaden, Germany, the son of John Ray Soltow of Moscow and the late Jimmie Lou Raborn Soltow. He moved at an early age with his parents to Ohio and received his education in the Strongsville, Ohio School System and formerly lived in Virginia before moving to Lusby in 1996. He was of the Baptist faith and served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years.   

Mr. Soltow was employed as a computer systems administrator for Sabre Systems, Inc. – Pax River Naval Air Station at the time of his death. He was married September 20, 1985 to the former Debbie Denise Falkner, a photographer, who survives. He enjoyed working with computers, collecting guns, photography, airplanes and Formula One Racing. In earlier years, he enjoyed attending air shows with his father in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and received much pleasure in taking care of his pet canines.   

In addition to his wife of 28 years, Mr. Soltow is survived by his daughter, April Nicole Soltow of Lusby, MD; his son, John Michael Soltow of Lusby, MD; his father, John Ray Soltow of Moscow; and his sister, Barbara Frances Morris and husband, Michael of Moscow.   

Pallbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Maryland Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, 2002 Clipper Park Road, Baltimore, MD 21211 or the Shelby County Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, 5587 Murray Road, Suite 105, Memphis, TN 38119.
