John "Duck" Huron Shaw

John Huron "Duck" Shaw, resident of Waterford, Mississippi, United States Veteran and retired logger, departed this life Tuesday evening, August 19, 2014 at the Trinity Mission Health & Rehab in Holly Springs, Mississippi where he resided for two weeks. He was 88 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Shaw will be at 11 Saturday morning, August 23rd at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Holly Springs, Mississippi with visitation one hour before services. Interment will be in the Laws Hill Cemetery in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Shaw was born June 9, 1926 in Holly Springs, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, John S. Shaw and Rose Shaw. He received his education in the Marshall County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of North Mississippi. He enjoyed outdoor activities that included fishing, nature, gardening and dogs.

Mr. Shaw is survived by his brother, Travis O'Dell Shaw of Holly Springs, MS; three nephews, Monty Shaw (Norma) of Holly Springs, MS, Jerry Shaw (Lee) of Holly Springs, MS, Ricky Shaw of Holly Springs, MS; and his niece, Karen Cupp (Jeff) of Olive Branch, MS.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 2641 Laws Hill Road, Holly Springs, MS 38635.
