John Elgin "Punkin" Anthony

John Elgin "Punkin" Anthony, age 92, resident of the Fisherville Community and husband of Sally Anthony, departed this life Tuesday morning, September 27, 2016 at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Anthony were conducted at 3 P.M. Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Thomas Foy, pastor of the Kirk Baptist Church in Collierville, officiating. Interment followed in the Magnolia Cemetery at Collierville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Anthony was born September 25, 1924 in Collierville. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and was married February 23, 1953 to Sally Anthony. He was a member of the Kirk Christian Church and was a farmer throughout his life. Mr. Anthony was a lifelong resident of the Fayette and Shelby County areas and enjoyed coon hunting, riding in his golf cart and raising cattle. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and the love he had for his grandchildren and helping others.

Mr. Anthony is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sally Anthony of Fisherville, TN; his daughter, Donna Kay Anthony of West Plains, MO; his son, John Richard Anthony (Mary Elizabeth) of Collierville, TN; his sister, Ruth Tennyson of Ackerman, MS; his brother, Paul Anthony (Nellie) of Arlington, TN; and three grandchildren, Jenna Anthony, Luke Anthony and Ryan Anthony.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Bobby Anthony, Jeff Anthony, Luke Anthony, Steve Anthony, Thomas Anthony and Richard Collins.
