Johnny Angelo Tartera, Sr., 83, of Somerville, United States Army Veteran, retired construction contractor and husband of Carolyn Poole Tartera, died January 2, 2015.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Tartera were conducted at 7 P.M. Wednesday, January 7th at the St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Johnny Tartera had a successful career during his lifetime. He co-owned and managed Five (5) Hogue and Knott Groceries in Memphis, Tennessee and sold real estate with Ace Roberts Real Estate Company for 10 years. For the last twenty years of his career, he founded and managed Tartera Construction where he designed and built custom homes in Bartlett and Fayette County. Johnny retired at age 75.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Johnny Tartera, Jr. (Tracy) of Somerville, Alex Tartera (Beverly) of Bartlett, Charles Martin Tartera (Lisa) of Bartlett; sister, Virginia Vanucci of Bartlett; brothers, Pat Tartera of Hernando, MS, Gene Tartera of Oakland; grandchildren, Angela Lindsay, Nick, Jessica, Andy, Taylor, Caraline, Brittany, Jonathan, Weston, Miranda; and great grandchildren, Sutton, Pierson, Arden, Anabela, Carson, Lincoln, Wyatt and Aurora. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alec and Theresa Dollosta Tartera and his sisters, Emily Maher, Jeanette Sweatman, Roseann Fesmire and Bobbie Hess.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 11710 U.S. Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
