John Thomas Moore

John Thomas Moore, age 82, resident of Whiteville and husband of Betty L. Moore, departed this life Thursday morning, November 24, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Moore were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, officiating. He was assisted by Bro. David Peace, pastor of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Whiteville. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Moore was born May 27, 1934 in Looxahoma, Mississippi. He received his education in the Tate County, Mississippi Public School System and was married July 18, 1959 to the former Betty L. Couch. Mr. Moore was a member of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church and was employed as a salesman for Institutional Distribution Food Company and Gordon Food Services before his retirement in 2002. He served as an alderman for the City of Whiteville for three years and enjoyed fishing.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty L. Moore of Whiteville, TN; his daughter, Jennifer L. Owen (Donnie) of Whiteville, TN; and his son, John Edward Moore of Whiteville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Moore, Sr. and Ora Robertson Moore; and four brothers, Eugene Moore, Jr., Travis Moore, Billy Moore and Kenneth Moore.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Mike Moore, Mike Harris, Steven Stanley, Jose Musoz, Alex Musoz and Jaime Medina.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, 17675 Highway 196, Eads, TN 38028.
